Send them to Joe D

Other stockbrokers at the firms that I worked at that weren’t opening as many accounts as I was and or were having trouble opening new accounts the owners of the firm, the managers, the principles would say “send them to Joe D” they would come to me and I would teach them sales I would tell them to pitch me and I would correct the mistakes that they’re making. I’d help them all. I worked with unsuccessful brokers. Because I was having success and I was always here who’s having trouble in the firm. They’d say this guy can’t open accounts he’s having trouble raising money “send them to Joe D”. They would come into my office I would sit with them. I would hear what they were pitching and how they were pitching and I’d correct them they started having success before you know it I started having sales training classes in the firm to all the brokers, not just the unsuccessful ones. it’s not something that I planned on, it was something that the owners of the firm chose to do because I was having success. 

I wouldn’t leave my office until I open an account a day. As soon as I open my eyes to start my new day every day when I woke up I check Asian markets, European markets, check the news to see what was moving markets on that day, and look at the S&P futures look at all the futures and I trade according. This was something that came naturally to me before you know it I was training a whole boardroom of new brokers and existing brokers. Again it’s not something I intended on it was just something that happened. I was there all the time new brokers came to the firm they said they were going to do a lot of business but wound up having trouble and then send them to me and I’d sit with them help them with what they were saying and they started having success. I realized early on that I was having a huge impact on all the firms that I worked at and the firms started making more money having me there I was a huge asset to the firm not just for the business that I was doing but for the business that all the brokers were doing. I helped them all. My door was always open to all of them. 

I’d love to work every Saturday. Saturday was a great day because the potential clients are all home on Saturday so I would get a lot of pitches off. 

I started holding morning meetings at 7:30 AM every morning to go over today’s events in Asian markets what happen overnight in European markets what they were doing in the US markets and I talk to them about a lot of Geopolitical information, earnings, charts. Charts were and still are my favorite. To me, the charts are the crystal ball of the market. it’s not the fundamentals and earnings. it’s about the charts. I started studying charts very early on and I could find out breakout points which ones were going to go lower which ones were going higher etc. I morphed into something much bigger than a standalone broker I was now controlling a salesforce.
