I grew up with strong family morals. We ate dinner every night together
My parents taught me right from wrong at a very early age. And about accountability
One time when I was 8 years old I was playing my uncle pitched me a softball on my grandparent’s block and when I hit the ball it broke it hit a neighbor’s window. I was startled. My uncle told me that he would speak to the neighbor when he was coming out of the house. I said no I will go over to the neighbor. I went over to the neighbor told him that I did it. I said I was going to pay him the money to fix it. The neighbor was upset but I can see he appreciated that I spoke to him and that I didn’t run away like a lot of other 8-year-olds would have done and that I would pay him back. The next day I started bagging groceries at a key food supermarket down the street from my house to make all the money to pay my grandparent’s neighbor’s broken window. It took me 4 months to pay $100 back to the neighbor. He was extremely appreciative. I felt good about it and learned a lifelong lesson. It taught me not to just say I’m sorry but to make amends.
I learned the value of a dollar at a very early age. It was taught and shown to me by my parents.
