After receiving my liver transplant in July 2020. I was on the ventilator three times my liver rejected the body and my body rejected the liver that I received that had Covid in it then both of my lungs collapsed after getting off the ventilator and they had to put me back on the ventilator and then I had sepsis which I went through septic shock and after I left the hospital it took me about seven months to rehab after I learned how to walk again because I was in bed in the hospital for over 3 1/2 months without getting up.

I reached out in April 2021 to Monsignor Jeff who was the priest at my church but also sober for 43 years he encouraged me to join AA and come to a meeting I did so he became my sponsor. Every Thursday night I would go to the church rectory and have dinner with him and a few other long-time sobriety individuals and then we would have a 7 PM AA meeting downstairs in the church he helped me spiritually he helped me in many different ways to lift the urge to drink. I would after the AA meeting at 7 PM go back upstairs with him and read the big book with him and we would pray. he recently just passed away and I have another sponsor now who took his place but he will be missed.

I’m a firm believer in AA and I will continue to do my 7 meetings a week. I try to do three or four in-person meetings a week and two or three zoom calls a week.

AA is a big component in my life now and it will always be. I’m so grateful for the time I spent with father Jeff. I was fortunate to have him in my life at the time that I had.
